Westcott Community Center is looking for a Digital Navigator who will help community members gain the digital skills they need to participate confidently in today's world. Through workshops, classes, and one-on-one support, you'll empower people to use technology for employment, education, healthcare, communication, and everyday life.

What You'll Do:
Lead Digital Skills Classes & Workshops
  • Facilitate engaging group workshops on topics such as:
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Email and online communication.
    • Internet safety and privacy.
    • Job searching and online applications.
    • Virtual learning tools.
    • Telehealth and online healthcare resources.
    • Smartphone and Chromebook basics.
  • Create welcoming learning environments for participants with varying levels of digital experience.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet different learning styles and needs.

Provide Individualized Support:
  • Meet one-on-one with community members to assess their digital skill levels.
  • Develop personalized learning plans and goals.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and technical assistance.
  • Help participants build confidence using technology independently.

Engage and Support the Community:
  • Conduct outreach and promote digital literacy opportunities throughout Syracuse neighborhoods.
  • Build trusted relationships with older adults, families, immigrants, and individuals who may have limited technology experience.
  • Encourage lifelong learning and digital confidence.

Support Participants Beyond the Classroom
  • Assist individuals with practical technology tasks such as:
    • Setting up email accounts.
    • Navigating websites and online forms.
    • Accessing virtual appointments.
    • Learning how to use devices safely and effectively.
  • Connect participants to relevant Westcott Community Center programs and community resources when appropriate.

Collaborate and Track Progress:
  • Document participant engagement and outcomes using Salesforce.
  • Work closely with the Digital Empowerment Program Manager and Westcott team members.
  • Share feedback and success stories that help strengthen program impact.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Human Services, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience teaching, training, coaching, mentoring, or facilitating groups preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport and create welcoming learning environments.
  • Interest in community engagement and service.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Comfort using smartphones, Chromebooks, and common digital tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues.
  • Experience with data tracking systems; Salesforce experience is a plus.

Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation and access to a working vehicle.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
